Going to keep this one short, because I need YOUR help.
I pitched an idea to a Canadian publication completely joking around about how I’d like to write a piece for their readers (online they get about 20k a day) called “Why Americans Make Fun of Canadians.”
One thing I’ve learned as somebody who has tried to maintain honesty and integrity with a blog:
Whenever I’m afraid to share something because I’m ashamed is exactly the time to do it.
I’m mostly afraid to share hard truth. This was how I lived up until a few years ago – I was always a very nice, outgoing person, but one that was terrified for you to see my imperfection. Because I thought it meant I was defective. And even though we’re all somewhat defective, as is the human condition, I thought I could be doing just a little better if I really tried.
I just realized I have now made it over two months of daily posts without a miss. I should probably try getting to gym every day for 63 days, but you wouldn’t appreciate reading posts about how many reps I did to blast my glutes. (It was four by the way.)
This morning at 8:38am CST, some piece of shit hacked into my server and broke a bunch of stuff on this site. I tracked the ip address to Poland.
What is broken is every single link on the site.
While I attempt to get this fixed, please bear with me.
One of the questions I am asked regularly is…
Do you still talk with your ex-wife?
The answer is yes.
Since I’m in a ridiculous number of support groups and therapy, I’ve had a year point five to process a lot of the anger and sadness that comes with divorce. Sure it still pops up once in awhile, and I feel like crying (sometimes I do) or screaming choice expletives at an invisible version of her (I do this too). That’s normal, from what I’m told.
Okay, my only mandate on this blog is…
Write the truth. Don’t lie, and don’t exaggerate (or try really hard not to).
Why? Because it’s too easy to lie to make a point or a joke. I’ve found that in life the hardest thing to do for me is to expose my vulnerabilities to others. It’s scary, and my mind has many ways of coping. Mostly by denial and/or humor.
I received an extremely interesting email yesterday.
Let me back up a few steps and start that over.
Most of my readership, it appears, are women. I have no way to verify this, but judging by the emails that comes in, it’s almost always from ladies.
As you may have read in my last post, these reports are about my vacation here in Santa Fe with my mom.
To recap my last entry, I had a super great time in Taos with a llama. It’s weird to have an animal who is near my height that will walk with you and carry your stuff. They’re even a little bashful – when they have to go to the bathroom, they leave the trail and go off to the side! Just like me!
I’m glad to say for the first time in the history of this website, I have completed my first full week of posts.
My intention was always to publish something every few days, and I’m thankful that my readership keeps increasing.
In fact, just yesterday Google had my blog ranked around position twelve for the search keywords “blog funny†and “funny blog.â€
I'll never give this child another cigarette, pinky swears!
