20k Twitter Followers Bragging Session

If you’ve been wondering when the next time I was going to brag about how popular I am via Twitter, today is your day!

Last night I crossed over the 20k follower threshold.

A big thank you to everyone who is passing this site around to friends, family, co-workers, frenemies, naysayers, do-gooders, that guy who lives down the block, your pharmacist, and the milk man who hasn’t come around since 1957.

My greatest joy in this whole damned blog is connecting with people.  In the past year I’ve made some terrific friendships, both online or in person.  I love when I get an email or a comment that not only tells me how I’m the greatest thing since the Target that opened up two blocks away, but that you can relate to something I had written.  Then, sharing your perspective is the gift that I receive from you.

Now, if you’re not on Twitter, I will only spend the next sentence shaming you.  For shame!  Okay, done.  You probably are on Facebook, then.  In case you didn’t know, I have a Facebook page for this blog.  I recently revamped it to include all my tweets so you won’t miss out on those, too.

I’m only at 1.6k Facebook fans.  Which is total garbage, people.  Don’t make me get nasty and start calling you all the horrible things that little girl called you in third grade that you never quite got over.  It was probably, “Four eyes!”  Kids are right to make fun of other kids for glasses.  Oh, also lice.  The lice kid has a rough go.  It’s his fault for getting lice!

Bottom line is that I’m really trying to create a community here.  I was going to say, “Which revolved around me,” but that seemed uncouth.  The truth is that many of you are honest, vulnerable, and funny as hell.  Many times I read something you right and think, “Wow, I wish I had that courage!” or “That f’ing skank wrote a better joke than I did!”

I really can’t tell you enough how much your readership means.  Maybe one day this could be a full-time gig, but for now, I am content knowing that you’re reading these words.  Thank you.
