Notice: Function _load_textdomain_just_in_time was called incorrectly. Translation loading for the amp domain was triggered too early. This is usually an indicator for some code in the plugin or theme running too early. Translations should be loaded at the init action or later. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. Notice: Function amp_is_available was called incorrectly. `amp_is_available()` (or `amp_is_request()`, formerly `is_amp_endpoint()`) was called too early and so it will not work properly. WordPress is not currently doing any hook. Calling this function before the `wp` action means it will not have access to `WP_Query` and the queried object to determine if it is an AMP response, thus neither the `amp_skip_post()` filter nor the AMP enabled toggle will be considered. The function was called too early (before the plugins_loaded action) to determine the plugin source. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. Comments on: Being Grateful For Stuff – Let’s Get Fixed https://thoughtsfromparis.com/thoughts/being-grateful-for-stuff-lets-get-fixed/ Humor blogger D.J. Paris writes about the most interesting subject in the world - himself. It's worth a look if you're cool. And you are! Wed, 16 Apr 2014 09:07:46 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.8.3 By: Shawna https://thoughtsfromparis.com/thoughts/being-grateful-for-stuff-lets-get-fixed/#comment-29811 Wed, 16 Apr 2014 09:07:46 +0000 https://thoughtsfromparis.com/?p=3542#comment-29811 This reminded me of a quote: “Our problem is not that we’ve got nothing to be grateful for, but that we’ve got no one to be grateful to.”

Now, at the risk of sounding like I’m channeling my inner Pollyanna, the truth is I pretty much live in a state of gratitude. Holy crap, this wasn’t always the case. I’m just happy. And this is in the midst of living with a rare brain disease. I’m content. I accept my lot in life and have much empathy for folks who have it worse. Every single day is a gift. There is so much bad behavior, and the news headlines are glaring proof that this world is broken.

But ya know what? I saw a butterfly AND a hummingbird today.

And I’m not ashamed that I thank God for all my blessings. The knee-thing…. Well, that’s pretty cool. I’m going to try it.

I have been offered a regular blogging opportunity for a family magazine (a paid gig?!?) and all I can think of is how I’m going to suck and miss deadlines and blow it.

It’s so human to need to feel better off than “that bozo,” right?! I love the “let’s get fixed!” idea. (Fixing our brokenness, not the cat sack type of fixing, although that’s good too, but my pets and husband are already fixed, so fuck them, let’s work on ME ME ME ME ME!)  I need to stop comparing myself to others and just appreciate what I have and what I’ve accomplished. See you next week for check in? Hi, I’m Leslie, by the way. Nice to meet you. I found you because I’m going to the Aiming Low Non Conf. next month.
